Demand V/s Value

In today's world of commercialism especially with the advent of E commerce a new term rather i would not say a new term but an old term with new meaning has been coined and that is "Demand"
Any product whose demand is higher is more sought after.

And I sit back and think "Is life all about Demand or is their anything else beyond that. what about Value."

What is the difference between "Demand" and "Value"

Well if simply put "Demand" is how many people want to purchase a product (In business terms) and "Value" is how many want to keep the product after buying.

E commerce has been a boon on sales by increasing demand. But that does not guarantee "Value"
While Demand is dependent upon factors like price, availability, return policy, advertisement and Value is dependent upon its internal strengths. Gold or diamond do not need to be desperate for demand. They know their value and demand is automatically created but a false diamond is desperate for demand.
What will happen if E commerce sites do not have return and refund policy. The artificial demand will drop down.
My blog is not to judge E commerce business. it is a part of business.
So what is my point.

My point is we have let the same paradigm come into our personal lives.

We are more focused on our outer beautification and gratification and we are so happy by the demand we create that we also have become a commodity.
That has resulted in try use and throw policy. In short make friends fast ... try ... and if we do not like dump them... leading to heart breaks and mental agony.

A necklace which is available in E commerce would be bought by hundreds of people tried and then returned back. the same necklace when kept in a showroom would be seen by genuine buyers, they would analyse it , value it , pay for it (maybe higher as well) and then keep it safely in a locker.

What is the difference. It is the value we put on ourselves. And value is always in our own hands.

I remember a very old incident. One of my beautiful writer friend complained that I am a writer but nobody wants to discuss writing with me but everyone wants be friends with me and sends me proposals.

At that time I was not diplomatic and I pointed out to her to look into her facebook profile. Her last 30 status updates were only and only her profile pics in different dresses and poses. Nowhere there was any status about reading / books or discussions.

It is said we get what we show.

When I pointed this out to her, instead of appreciating she unfriended me.

Unfortunately it has been 3 years now and she has not written another book.

What is my point...

Whether in business or personal relationships... we get what we focus on.

Sometime back another of my very dear friend confessed that I am fed up of people proposing me and trying to get close to me... and all i could say was ... check your social profile. This time I was diplomatic and i did not want to lose the friend.

Somewhere people would only learn from their mistakes. We are no one to judge them and neither rectify them... yes we can share our views and they have to themselves leave it or take it....

It is we who decide ... whether we are running after so called "Demand" or are we raising our "Value"

Demand is short lived .... Value is forever......!!!

Have a good day

Missing you.......

Missing you...

yes missing you the moment you leave me..
till the time we meet again...
the vacuum the emptiness the void...
leaves me hollow and devoid...
i crave to see you again...
never to be separated again...
why do i miss you is not my call..
they say love is a dungeon you should never fall...
do i love you
no i do not..
we love the ones who are not with us..
you are there always with me...
you are beyond love to me..
like two souls separated to meet again..
come let us meet once again...
never to be separated again...

An ode to Akansha... from Aradhya...

Ministers are never corrupt Nations are....

Hate the deed and not the person...

Must have read this umpteen times but today i would like to give it a thought. While jogging on the track a sudden thought came to me that why do we hate any person. We hate him because we do not approve of his actions. The thing to ponder is not all of his actions but some of his actions. Why do we like some person. Because we approve of some of his/her actions. Again a thing to ponder not all of his/her actions.

That brings us to think that actually we hate actions and not persons. Well than if we focus on hating actions we would actually like everyone. Because we have demarcated actions from persons and now we can always say that i like you but i do not approve of your this action.

Where does this thought lead us.

Ministers are never corrupt Nations are....

Well you may say it is a very bold statement. Yes it is a bold statement.

Let us understand this.

Consider a country where people hate corruption. Then the mass will oppose any corrupt practice and disapprove any such action. Even to the tune that if he/she himself is offered a chance he/she will not get corrupted and will fight the deed.

Alternatively if the mass hates a minister because he /she is corrupt and not the deed. Then the anger is shown towards the person and not the deed.
Many a times it give rise to the feeling which is disastrous...

"Everybody does it so why should I not .... "

Now this is a bold statement and we have seen this many a times.

So the Nation has 3 types of people  1) Dishonest and corrupt people... 2) Honest people
and though these 2 categories would be smaller in number ... there would be a vast majority of people who would come under a special category and that is the biggest challenge...

3) Honest because never had a chance to be dishonest......

Think about it.....

The thought process of any society , religion or a nation does not belong to a few persons who hold the chair ...

It is the image of the thought process of a common man....

Any nation where a common man is honest in thought process ( We are not hinting at action ... because action requires opportunity ) ... that Nation will always be honest in general...
And any nation where a common man is dishonest in thought process that nation will never get honest because thought process are seeds which germinate when the conditions are ripe... it is like weeds ...you destroy some today and tomorrow they will appear again....
And one day we will say....

"Nothing can be done....... "

And this rule applies to any society , religion , state , country or the world in specific...

Think about it.....

I want to be the rock again.. An ode to Akansha

Love was an unpolished rock for me...
You polished it and made a diamond out of me...
As hard as I may seem from outside...
Your indifference still brings a crack in me...
Wish I was a rock once again...
Waiting for you to come to me...
Your touch and your care...
How I long to be there ...
Now that I have become priceless...
I have lost you somewhere...
I miss you everyday...
Amidst the world of glare..
O my love come back to me ...
I want to be the rock again...
I want to be the rock again...

Acceptance and Rejection

I was a on a cross road where there were 2 sign boards ... one said "Acceptance" ... and second said "Rejections" ...

I asked a sage meditating there.. "Guru ji which road leads to "Growth and Success" ...

Guruji smiled and pointed towards "Rejections" ...

I was perplexed and I inquired.. "Why Guruji??"

Guruji said "The Acceptance road is easy and leads to stagnancy ... you will just stay there and die ... The "Rejections" road though a bit tough will challenge you time to time and never let you stagnate ... you will always be lively ... buoyant and when at intervals you will get acceptance you will value both your achievements as well as life ... choice is yours."

“Niharika... I want to live again”, another very beautiful book written by author Arun Prabhu-Aradhya. Following the footsteps of “Count your chicken before you lay them” it is another feather in his cap. We all LIVE facing many things in our lives, with love , with adjustments, or compromising with the situation. Life moves on but all are not so lucky to have a beautiful life. Where his first book “Count your chicken before you lay them” explains how to understand different personalities, temperaments etc to live beautifully, this book “Niharika...I want to live again” unfolds into the life of a strong, single mom whose life revolves only around her daughter and her work. Slowly how Sam enters and how things change for her, how she realises she can live again.... A very beautiful, touching book and also an eye opener to all Niharikas who want to and can LIVE AGAIN. Hope all Niharikas meet some one like Sam, Sally or Aradhya to live again........Highly recommended. – Sunita Prabhu

A brilliant and touching account of a single mother and her inner conflicts. Arun Prabhu Aradhya not only touched a very sensitive chord in contemporary society but also made readers to contemplate deeply with an out of the box thinking. I am glued to the pages from beginning till end, as it has a very very engaging and realistic story line. Highly recommend this another brilliant work of the author after "Count Your Chicken Before You Lay Them" to specially those who are going through marriage, re-marriage, divorce or single parenting phases.

They say marriages are made in heaven…..
Then where are divorces made…..
Is living in relationship the answer to all….
When even a lifetime is less to know somebody….
Is marriage all about sex…
Or is it about two souls…
The seven promises…
Till death do us apart…
Qubool hey…
In the presence of priest or padri or maulvi
Then where did this “talaq” come from….
Marriage is the most beautiful relationship ever….
And sometimes the most destroying…

Stay Committed whether it is your dream.. passion or relationships..!!!

Dear readers as targeted  I had to complete 15 km non stop. I got up and found that my shoes sole had broken... well a good excuse ... but I decided against it... found my old shoes... put them on and off to the tracks... first round and I found that the shoes were pinching... the shoes had stiffened due to non use... but I carried on... somewhere a voice said it is not necessary to complete 15 km.. you have never done it ... and who is watching you ... you are your own boss.. so just do 3 km .. anyways the shoes are pinching ... I somehow managed 3 km .. my toes pinching... I thought to myself let me 1 more km.. I did 4 and then 5 ... my dream in front of me .. did 6 km ... a voice again said leave it... you can do it afterwards also.. but somewhere my heart did not agree.. 1 more km ... let me do 10 ... that would be enough ... so inched towards 10 km ... that would be more than enough.. once I did 10 km I thought why not do 12.5 so that at least I can touch my previous high ... cleared 11 km ... my feet still paining ... but the moment I focus on my dream the pain vanishes.. 11 km is more than sufficient ... I am getting tired .. toes pinching.. mind said leave it ... heart said no....

GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOU... ESPECIALLY THE DREAMERS...!!!
#LAW OF ATTRACTION...

It happened that a good friend of mine was also on the ground jogging and was following me on face book and guess what was the first question he asked while crossing me.....

"What is your target today????"

I said "15 km !!!"

"Great.. I follow you on FB."

Man proposes and God disposes...

I continued my endeavor.. now I need to complete my target ... how difficult it may seem.. how much my feet may pinch..!!!

With renewed strength and motivation I continued...

While crossing again my friend again said... "We used to be proud that we do 9 km .. but your 15 km target ke saamne sab phusss."

I just smiled and kept on..!!!

13 km ... 14 km.. just one more km and finally 15 km non stop ... just did it ...

and I am so happy I did it...

When you have a dream and passion ... universe conspires to make it happen....

Don't you think this is how life happens... what a similarity in what happened today and what happens in life...

Have a dream... stay committed ... and universe will help you achieve it...against all odds..!!!

Either we can make excuses or we can follow our passion ... And when dream is strong facts don't count...!!!

So whether in dream or relationship ... stay committed...!!!

Review of Niharika I want to Live again by Mr Manoj Arora.. A best selling Author

Read what Mr Manoj Arora best selling author of 3 books "From the Rat Race to financial Freedom" , "Happiness Unlimited" and "Dream On" has to say about the book...
Dear Arun,
First of all, let me congratulate you for bringing out this masterpiece and also giving me an opportunity to review it. Frankly, my initial reaction after looking at the book was : 'How in the world am I going to take out time to read 300 + pages?' I thought that I will read a few pages from 3 to 4 different sections of the book and share my feedback based on that. But you know what, 'Manoj Arora proposes, Arun Prabhu disposes'. You just blew apart my plan.
A gripping story sprinkled with unforgettable life lessons.
I started the book and could never leave it, until I finished it. Believe me, this is the fastest I have ever read a book. Kudos to you for making the story fast paced as well as gripping. Life lessons from Sam are like a breath of fresh air which makes us rethink and connect to our own real life situations. The portrayal of all the characters is so realistic that we feel involved in the story at all times. All in all, in spite of the plot of the story, I felt immensely fresh after reading it.

I will be there... for you

When the lights get darker ...
When the forests get thicker ...
When there is no ray of hope ...
When you think you have lost everything ...
Just extend your hand ...
And you will find me there...
To hold your hand and take you...
To your land of dreams ...
To make you stand up for yourself ...
To create a mark for yourself...
Although I may get angry with you sometimes ...
Maybe your behavior irritates me many a times...
But that is all temporary ...
And my love for you is eternal ...
My care for you universal ...
If you are there my existence is there...
My dreams are there...
My passion is there...
I want nothing in return which I do not deserve ...
I just want to be there for you ...
I want to be the first person to be there for you ...
To share the dreams with you ...
And to make every wish of you true ....
When the lights get darker ..
And the forest get thicker ....!!!

Follow your Passion

Life is a constant struggle to stay positive... things do not always work as per our plan... getting negative is very easy and comfortable but the results are not comfortable.. being positive is very challenging.. and at times having faith and patience is very tough ... but it is worth going through the efforts to stay positive... because the end result is very comfortable.. and having a dream helps us in staying positive ... visit your dream everyday and be passionate ... things will ultimately happen in our favor... and as i write this my readers may feel i am a very positive person... no i am not ... i also go through negative phases... at least 100 times a day ... when we have a dream and a bigger dream we face bigger challenges ... bigger disappointments.. frustrations ... helplessness .. but that one spark ... that one hope ... that one silver lining prompts me to get up and do it one more time.. improve on my shortcomings and push ahead... keep moving ... listen to my favorite song ... and pursue my passion... because God has a plan for me.... and for everyone... and life is nothing but "successful realization of worthy goals"

An Ode to my Dad

Hailing from a very remote village in Karnataka and educated up to 10th class in a Kannada medium school... with almost no knowledge of English... very little knowledge of Hindi.. a man left for Mumbai ..  the land of dreams to make a living ... or to live his dreams... he lived in a one room chawl with his uncle with many other immigrants from his hometown ( since the generous uncle was a one stop sarai for all immigrants from the home town who had come there to pursue their dreams.)

Not being educated is a curse... but sometimes it is a boon as well. Sometimes not knowing precisely what to do .. opens your heart and mind for opportunities.. and he did the same.. he had a technical mind and got an opportunity to learn how to operate textile machines.. to be precise knitting. Those were the hay days of embroidery, knitted curtains and fabrics. He quickly learnt the art and became the master. Masterji as people now used to call him... Knitting master.

The journey which began from a small village near Udupi... traversing through Mumbai then Amritsar and then Delhi. He was earning money. Lot of money. He bought a car (the first to buy a car from his hometown, a fiat, and that too self owned.. no finance those days ... only upfront cash) lavish lifestyle .. TV Fridge etc ... which were a luxury in those days... and a cash down purchased house in Faridabad. mind you cash down .. no finance.

His children studied in convent schools.. even though he was barely 10th pass... his children had the best schooling.

No his children were never pampered. The grudge which every child may have of not being pampered even though there was no money challenges. Though looking back now their children feel that it was for the good. Had they been pampered they would not have come strong.

Life was never smooth although. There were ups and downs in life. The textile recession.. Knits going out of fashion.. job shortage.. had its toils.. even though having his own family in Faridabad, he had to move to Amritsar, Surat, Dombivili, Bhiwani Mandi, back to Amritsar etc.

He even tried his hands in business and failed miserably. He was too honest and straight forward for business.

All this and some habits forced health issues.. and health started deteriorating.. but he worked till his body permitted.

In his last 10 years he fought bravely with diabetes, BP and other health issues. Though off and on he would be through ICU ( 7 times in 10 years to be precise) he never complained.

HE NEVER HAD THE HABIT OF COMPLAINING... NEITHER WITH HIS FAMILY MEMBERS NOR WITH GOD....!!!

And he always had the fighting spirit.

That for you is and was my Dad.... my handsome hero ...

Many a times I wonder where do I get the strength to fight and never give up...

Now I realize it is in my genes....

Never give up.... and never never never COMPLAIN.... !!!

I have learnt and imbibed lot of things from my dad... I miss you dad... and as I write this a tear trickles down my eyes ... to pay homage to him... this month he would have turned 79... !!!

FOREVER INDEBTED TO YOU.... DAD

The Power Within

There was this caterpillar..
enjoying the juicy leaves basking in the sun..
oblivious of what was in store for him..
and he grew and grew...
till one day he became a cocoon..
and there he lay..
little did he know he was being transformed..
and one day he found his hands..
he tried to flutter..
to break the shell of cocoon..
struggle as he did trying to break the walls..
but to no avail..
the walls were stronger..
and there he lay without hope..
and then a voice called his name..
i love you and i want you to succeed..
the voice kept on encouraging..
and more and more audible..
the pupa got up one more time..
and this time broke the wall..
and as he fell down he fluttered..
the sap gushing as he fluttered more and more..
and there he took a big swing..
up and up towards the sky..
he found a new life..
and he was happy...
as he rose he remembered the voice..
but the voice was no where to be found..
he searched hither thither till he was tired..
losing all hopes he looked up and asked..
O God where is my savoir..
and the voice spoke once again for the last time..
i was always there, i am always there and i will be always there..
somewhere buried inside you...

Love@Karma

His eyes were searching..
searching for a part of his that was lost..
missing in the vast expanse of cosmos..
his eyes yearned to have just a glimpse..
of the part of his soul that was missing..
but as fate may have it..
the debt of karma needs to be paid,,
and as he lay down..
praying to God..
to just have a glimpse of the beloved..
for the last time..
was god being cruel..
only god can tell..
and now as he closed his eyes to breath his last..
a glimmer of hope still there..
and he opened his eyes once more..
but his breath could not hold on..
and as he lay there with open eyes..
god smiled and said..
debt of karma needs to be paid..

Eternal Love

The beauty of love is in giving..
The tears of joy is in giving ...
The thought of submission to your beloved...
The satisfaction of sacrifice...
The feeling of being a part of the creator...
The feeling of belongingness...
And the feeling of being belonged to...
The longingness of the souls...
Dancing in the cosmic expanse..
Craving to meet ...
Craving to be complete...
It is just but a matter of time ...
When they shall be united forever..
Oblivious and unchained from the law of rebirth ...
For they are now the cosmos ...
Till then the karmas have to be cleared ...
The debts have to be paid...
The unfulfilled desires have to extinguished...
And from the dust of the extinguished flames..
Shall rise the purity of the souls ...
Till then they shall play to the tunes of their past ...
They shall cry.. laugh.. meet and depart ...
And again and again they shall meet...
The beauty of love is in giving ...
The tears of joy is in giving ......

Writers Dilemma

Writers Dilemma...

often people ask me one question...

Can i submit my writing and will you tell if it would sell....
And before i can read it i say yes it will....

Am i lying no... am i telling the truth no...

the manuscript first needs to be sold to ourselves... if we are not convinced then how come we will convince others...
and secondly it doesn't matter whether i appreciate it or not.. there are people who will appreciate it and there are people who will never appreciate..

i have got reviews for my first book " i couldn't wait to finish it" or "i finished it by 2.40 AM" etc...
and i say wow did i do that.. :) :D (Y)

and then someone writes "what a crap it is" ... i couldn't go beyond a few pages... and i say phusssss saari hawa nikal gayi ... :P

And then i realized only one thing... do your best... be convinced about your project... some will appreciate and some wont.. the will's will encourage you and the wont's would make you stay grounded (humble)

So keep writing and if no publisher publishes... self publish it...

remember "Every person on this earth has a story to tell... only a few have the patience to write it down... and more so only few have the guts to get it published... if you publish a book you make it to the 0.02% of the population... and if you publish your second book then you make it to 0.002% .. that itself is a big achievement .....

happy writing... and who knows you are writing history..... :D
